Olympea

The project

Cream fronts, gloss above and matt below, with textured wood accents and a veined worktop.

Olympea plays on a single colour but two finishes. The base units are matt, the wall units are gloss, and the difference only shows when the light falls on them — the upper half of the kitchen reflects the window, the lower half absorbs it. It is an old interiors trick, used here with restraint: the room feels taller without feeling colder.

The worktop is in a warm-grey stone decor with visible veining, the only surface in the whole composition with a pattern of its own. It stops cleanly at the light splashback, with no visible trim.

What lifts this kitchen out of the standard category is the open shelving column at the end of the run: a narrow volume with a dark frame and open shelves, set in the same textured wood that appears on the sides of the wall units. Its job is not bulk storage — its job is to finish the line. Without it, the run of furniture would have ended abruptly against the wall.

The dining area is treated as part of the same room rather than an annexe: a ring pendant above the table, curtains toned to the wood, herringbone parquet. The kitchen and the table read as one project.
