The project

A compact single-wall kitchen: greige wall units, cream fronts below, black handles and a light worktop.

ELYA is a small kitchen set along one wall, made for a room where the table stands right in front of it. The whole working line fits between two edges of wall: the hob at one end, the sink at the other, and the free worktop between them. Nothing steps out of line and nothing blocks the way to the table.

The two registers are divided by colour. The wall units are greige — a warm beige-grey, darker than the wall — and the base units are cream, with a drawer and doors on straight black handles. The contrast between the two tones draws the kitchen onto the wall without weighing it down.

The light worktop holds the black hob and the black sink with its tap on one line, like two accents on a calm ground. There are no niches and no decors: the surfaces are smooth, and the light from the window beside them makes them look larger than they are.

The round table, with chairs upholstered in terracotta, and the smoked-glass pendants above it are where the room turns warm. The kitchen stays behind, in order, and the table is what you see first.
