Kassandra

The project

Dark walnut over the full height, cut by a light worktop that keeps the light in the room.

Kassandra starts from a decision about material, not from a furniture layout. The fronts are in a dark wood decor with visible grain, used without interruption from the plinth up to the wall units. It is a kitchen that commits to its colour.

What keeps it bright is the worktop: a light, fine-grained stone-look surface that crosses the whole working line and stops in the white splashback. The contrast is simple and controlled — two materials, two tones, nothing else between them.

Unlike a handleless kitchen, here the opening is visible and part of the drawing. The black bar handles, horizontal on the drawers and vertical on the doors, repeat the rhythm of the fronts and pick up the black of the sink, the tap and the built-in oven.

The corner by the window is left open, with two wooden shelves in place of wall units. It is a deliberate release: the corner takes the direct light from the window, and the closed volume of the kitchen ends before it reaches the outside wall. The light herringbone floor completes the balance.
